Fill the Bucket for First in Families of Durham

Dear Voyager Families,
As a part of the season of giving, please come and select a gift tag to “fill the bucket” for First in Families of Durham County.  This is a school-wide, K – 12, project that encourages teachers, students and families to purchase gifts for others within our Durham community. Specifically, the gifts will go to Durham families that have children with developmental disabilities.  Students/Staff/Parents select a gift tag from the bucket in the main lobby at VAES, VAMS, or VAHS and return the UNwrapped gift with the gift tag taped to the bag to VAES, VAMS, or VAHS by Friday, December 11th. Some tags list more than one item. You do not need to purchase all of the items.  Please visit our lobby and select a gift tag!

Middle School Yearbook Ordering

“Instagram this!”   VAMS yearbook! 2015-16

Time to place your order for your child’s yearbook! Order before January 29, 2016 and pay only $27!  You can simply order via www.strawbridge.net.   Don’t delay, check this off of your to do list!

We also need your help to be sure to include as many candid pictures in this year’s yearbook!  Please email any photos you have taken for 2015/2016 to  msyearbook@voyageracademy.net  When sending them, please identify what class and grade the photos are from.
Eighth grade parents!!!!  Your child is finally graduating from middle school. Before you send them off to high school, show them just how proud you are of them for all of their hard work and incredible accomplishments with an ad in VAMS yearbook. You can add personal photos, special memories and a unique message to honor and congratulate them in a way they’ll be able to cherish for years to come.  Ads are $35 for a2.25″x 3.5″ size.   To purchase a memory ad, follow these two simple steps by January 18, 2016  1) Send payment in and drop off with Gwen Johnson. January Lunch Ordering

Lunch ordering for the month of January will be open from Tuesday, December 1st through Thursday, December 10th through OrgsOnline (http://www.orgsonline.com/)!

An instruction sheet is attached if you have not used the site before and need assistance. All orders must be placed and paid for by Thursday, December 10th. Late orders will not be accepted. If you place an order and fail to pay by December 10th your order will be cancelled.

Please keep the following in mind when you place your order:

*If you have been approved for reduced lunch you need to sign up through OrgsOnline for the days you would like lunch and pay through this system. You must have been pre-approved this year to select this option. If you select this option and have not been approved this year your lunch order will be cancelled and the money forfeited. Your cooperation is appreciated as we strive to provide lunches for families in need. The menu items for MondayWednesday and Friday are the same but the order has been changed. If this was previously a concern please contact the school directly for additional information. Tuesday and Thursday have not changed.

*If you have been approved for Free Lunch and have turned in your acceptance, no further action is necessary. Your child will receive their lunch on a daily basis when they report to the hot lunch area to get their free lunch for that day. The menu items for Monday,Wednesday and Friday are the same but the order has been changed. If this was previously a concern please contact the school directly for additional information. Tuesday and Thursday have not changed.

*Please read the menus for Wednesday and Friday carefully! On Wednesdays Chik-fil-A is ONLY available to Middle and High school students. On Fridays Chik-fil-A is ONLY available to Elementary school students. If you order incorrectly your order will be cancelled and the money forfeited.

*There are no refunds once an order has been placed and paid for any reason (ie: field trip, absence from school, changes mind on the lunch item chosen, etc.).

Enrichments Update

The fall semester of Enrichments are going well! The semester is coming to a close and students and instructors are eagerly excited for the spring semester to begin!  Registration for spring semester enrichment courses will be available December 1, 2015 on the Voyager website! Important dates to remember regarding the Care program and Enrichments are below. Please add these dates to your personal calendars. Courses offered are Basketball, Guitar, Drums, Voice, Piano, Ballet & Jazz Dance, Drama, Mandarin, Kids Fitness, Karate, Kickboxing, Soccer Shots and more!!! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns! All enrichments are for students grades K-8 only.

  •       “Enrichment Fair” Night Tuesday, January 5, from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the Elementary School GymThis is an opportunity to meet the enrichment instructors and gather more information about spring semester classes. New courses offered!!!
  •        Spring Enrichment Courses begin Monday, January 11, 2016 and end Friday, April 15, 2016 with NO CLASSES offered the week of Jan 18 (MLK day) or March 28 (spring break).
  •       End-of-year Enrichment Showcase Thursday, April 21, 2016– Students will showcase to parents what they have learned from their instructors! Fall students are encouraged to enroll in Spring semester courses. Fall and Spring semester students are expected to perform. More information regarding this event is forthcoming.
