Dress Standards for Boys and Girls:

  1. All shirts are to be collared shirts, polo/golf style, or turtlenecks.  If the shirt has a logo, the logo is to be no larger than a square inch.  T-shirts for boys or girls are no longer allowed.

  2. Pants, shorts, capris, skirts, and dresses are permissible.  No denim or camouflage.

  3. Closed toe, tennis shoes, clogs (can be backless), crocs, and sandals with a back are allowed.  Heels should be no more than 1 ½ inch.  No flip flops and “heeelies”.

  4. Voyager Academy or plain crew necked sweatshirts and sweaters are acceptable attire at any time.  A collared shirt should be worn under the sweatshirt.  Hooded sweatshirts can no longer be worn in the classroom, but are allowed for outside wear.

  5. No hats or headgear, sweatbands, or sunglasses of any type are to be worn inside the building.

  6. All students are required to purchase one Voyager Academy collared shirt in red, blue, or white to be worn on field trips and for special events.

  7. All parents and students are required to sign the Voyager Academy Dress Code Agreement.

  8. Assigned staff members will daily monitor dress code compliance at each school entrance.

Dress Standard Guidelines:

For shirts:

Shirts, sweatshirts, and sweaters must have sleeves and be of solid color, striped, or with a minimal pattern.  No writing or pictures.  The logo may be no larger than 1 square inch.  Crop tops, short tops, spaghetti strap tops are not acceptable. Shirts do not have to be tucked in, but should be of appropriate length.  When a student’s arms are raised overhead, the shirttail must cover both the front and rear of the pant waistband.

For Pants:

Cargo pants/shorts and corduroy pants/shorts are acceptable.  Sagging pants, leather pants or skirts, overalls, athletic shorts or pants, velour pants, or sweatpants are not acceptable.  Shorts, skirts, and dress hems should be mid thigh or longer.  No appliqués, emblems or writing.

Other:

6th ,7th , and 8th graders will change into their PE uniform for PE class.
Boy Scout, Girl Scout, 4-H, etc. uniforms may be worn on meeting days.
No piercings except appropriate earrings, no extreme hairstyles or colors.

No tight, form fitting clothes.

Students are prohibited from wearing clothing, jewelry, having book bags, or other articles of personal appearance which depict profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, violence, promote the use/abuse of tobacco drugs or alcohol or are associated with intimidation or violent groups (gangs). 

Clothing must be worn as not to expose underwear, cleavage or bare skin between the upper chest and mid thigh.

Dress Up Days:

Picture day, sports teams on game days, special guests visiting the school, etc – to be announced by the School Administration
Boys:  plain shirt/tie, nice pants 
Girls:  dresses, skirts, dress slacks  

Casual Days:

The frequency of casual days will be determined and announced by the School Administration. 

Voyager, college, or sports logo on t- shirts and sweatshirts will be allowed.  Athletic shorts/pants and jeans are allowed.  No ripped jeans or jeans with holes, no hip huggers and no short shorts.

Frequent Questions:

1. Are shirts with nero type collars allowed?  YES

2. How long do shorts and skirts need to be? THE HEM LINE OF SHORTS AND SKIRTS SHOULD NOT BE ABOVE THE TIPS OF THE STUDENT'S FINGERS WHEN THEIR ARMS ARE EXTENDED DOWN BY THEIR SIDE.

3. Do dresses need to have sleeves since all shirts must have sleeves? YES

4. Do dresses need to have collars? NO

5. Are sleeveless shirts with collars acceptable? NO

6. Am I required to buy a new Voyager polo shirt, even if I have an old style shirt at home? WE PREFER THAT EACH STUDENT PURCHASE A NEW VOYAGER SHIRT. HOWEVER, IT IS  PERMISSIBLE TO WEAR AN OLD STYLE VOYAGER COLLARED SHIRT ON FIELD TRIPS IF IT IS THE REQUIRED COLOR FOR THE STUDENT'S GRADE LEVEL.   

7. Are denim skirts allowed? NO

8. Are turtle neck shirts allowed ? YES

9. A "hooded sweatshirt" is any sweatshirt with a hood. This includes zippered sweatshirts or jackets. Remember hooded sweatshirts can no longer be worn in the classroom, but are allowed for outside wear.  If a student wears a hooded sweatshirt to school, it must be stored in their locker or cubbie during the school day.

10. Zip up type sweatshirts are not allowed to be worn in class. Even if the hood is turned inside the jacket.
