Girls of Ghana Charity Disc Golf Tournament

Help the Girls of Ghana in a charity disc golf tournament! Come out and support on May 18th at Valley Springs Disc Golf Course. The cost is $10 per team, and the players will be divided into beginner and competitive divisions. There will be prizes for many, and disc rentals for those who do not own their own discs. Registration starts at 9 am and closes at 9:45. All proceeds will go towards ABAN. For more information, please visit www.aban.com or check out our flyer.


VAHS Biology Students Will Lead Activities at the Museum of Life and Science

Come support VAHS Biology students at the Museum of Life and Science on Saturday, March 23rd from 10am-3pm. Voyager students will be facilitating activities they have created to teach a variety of topics in the field of genetics. Participants will have the opportunity to make punnett squares and pedigrees, learn about karyotypes, extract DNA from fruit and much much more. This event will take place upstairs in the Investigate Health section of the museum. Please come out to support our students and enjoy an afternoon at the museum. Driver's Education Information

Voyager Academy High School will be hosting the classroom portion of Driver's Education from June 10-June 21 from 11:00-2:00 each day.  Registration is only available online.

Please visit the DPS website (dpsnc.net). Click on "Services" and then "Driver's Education". Follow the instructions to register online. Students must be 14.5 years of age. If you have any questions about the class, please contact Dave Roberson at 919-560-3702.

Voyager High School Students Recognized for Work on American Tobacco Trail

Ninth grade VAHS students recently completed a Service Day project in collaboration with the City of Durham to clean up the American Tobacco Trail to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Bill Vincent and Julia Higby-Naquin Win Grants

VAHS Science teachers Bill Vincent and Julia Higby-Naquin each won grants to further science education in their classrooms.  Ms. Higby was selected to receive a Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) Promoting Innovation in Science and Mathematics (PRISM) grant in the amount of $3,000.00. The grant will be awarded to Voyager Academy Charter School for the project titled "Who Am I?"

Also, congratulations to Ms. Higby for winning a Bright Ideas Grant in the amount of $1,500 for her Biology classes in order to teach Gel Electrophoresis.

Mr. Vincent was selected to receive a Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) Promoting Innovation in Science and Mathematics (PRISM) grant in the amount of $3,000.00. The grant will be awarded to Voyager Academy Charter School for the project titled "Physics Modeling."

High Expectations Policy
