Welcome Message from the Principal

Welcome Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

It is my privilege to welcome you to Voyager Academy High School for the 2012-2013 school year. It has now been two years since we welcomed our first freshman class to Voyager Academy High School; our students continue to amaze us as they grow into the leaders of our school. This year our Junior class will confront one of their most important academic years before college. We have a number of activities planned that we believe will support our students through this arduous year and continue to enhance their marketability. Advisory is an essential part of Voyager Academy High School and its worth will strengthen during the Junior year.

In the pages of this handbook are the policies and procedures of Voyager Academy High School. I encourage you to read and re-read the handbook to become familiar with the culture we are striving to create at Voyager Academy High School. The advisory program at Voyager Academy High School is a key ingredient in developing an environment in which our students are responsible and active participants in their education.

During these formative years, we will continue to provide an environment in which we engage students in their cognitive development through a variety of relevant and experiential learning opportunities. These opportunities will continue to be differentiated and aligned to the individual goals of each of our students. In order to help each and every student at Voyager Academy High School accomplish their goals we will hold one attitude at all times: We Expect Success. This attitude means we believe three things: What we are doing here is important; you can do it; and Even if you give up on yourself we will not give up on you. Working together as a school community to help our students achieve their goals is our main priority, and we want each student who enters our school to be successful. The school community at Voyager Academy includes our students, faculty, parents, grandparents, local businesses, and many other community members and is the reason for our student’s successes. It is an exciting time to be a part of the Voyager Academy community and I look forward to continuing to work with everyone to focus on the success of our students.
